Kelyn taught himself to program in middle school to make video games. As he grew, he nurtured an eye for design and a love for solving technical problems by repeatedly building projects from the ground up. By the time he reached graduation, his career path was obvious.

During his 6-year tenure as a software developer, Kelyn has had the privilege of working with a diverse range of companies, from 3-man startups to Fortune 500 giants.

That range of experience shaped how he builds. At a cryptocurrency exchange, he learned what secure backend systems actually require. At a cybersecurity firm, he built systems where downtime wasn't an option. And building an A/B testing and feature flagging service for a large enterprise taught him how a small, well-designed system can have an outsized impact.

Kelyn learned to love the scrappy nature of successful small teams: everyone owns outcomes and improves processes without waiting to be told. He brings that same mentality to his consulting work.

He started Convergent Design because he wants to own outcomes, help clients grow, and care about the details the way founders do. He writes about software architecture and development at kelyn.guru.

David spent over 20 years practicing law, more than a decade of it running his own firm, with a focus on estate planning and trust and estate litigation. A career spent sitting across the table from people during some of the harder moments of their lives taught him what clients actually need from the person they've hired: straight answers, not jargon, and someone who follows through.

His path into law was not the obvious one. He worked in information technology both before and during law school, moving through several technical roles before setting the field aside to practice law full time. He never fully left it behind, though; for the past 30 years he's written code to automate processes for his business and for personal use, occasionally taking on paid software commissions.

He also pursued two graduate degrees in theology and spent several years in pastoral ministry, which says less about his résumé than about a habit of mind: he tends not to consider a subject settled until he genuinely understands it, whether that subject is a contract, a piece of software, or a passage of scripture. Both careers, in their own way, came down to the same thing: showing up for people when it actually mattered to them.

That combination is what he brings to Convergent Design: legal judgment, small business experience, technical fluency, and a preference for getting things right over simply getting them done.
